Character Name: Teta Hyral (It can also be spelled "Tietra Heiral", but I use the spelling from the original Tactics translation, since that's what I'm the most familiar with)

Canonical Point: It is after Delita and Ramza show up at Igros for the first time in-game, but before she gets kidnapped and taken to Fort Zeakden. She is still alive at this point.






Background:

Teta Hyral is the younger sister of a certain Delita Hyral, who is the best friend of another certain Ramza Beoulve. She and her brother, when they were young, were the children of a farmer working on Beoulve land...but when the Black Plague came and killed their parents, the two were taken in by the then-alive Balbanes (Barbaneth) Beoulve. At this time, she and her brother had been introduced to the Beoulve children, most specifically the youngest two, Ramza and Alma.

Ramza and Delita immediately clicked, spending time together and acting more like brothers than noble and commoner. When they grew older, Delita and Ramza went away to the Gariland Military Academy, as was Lord Balbanes' wish. Teta, in turn, was enrolled in the Aristocratic Preparatory School in Igros with Alma. Though, once there, Teta found herself teased and alienated by the other girls because of her common birth. Despite this, she refused to let anyone know just how much this bothered her, and would simply smile and lie to her brother and others of the family when asked about her times at school (She didn't want others to worry, though she always found herself worrying about her brother, studying so far away in a place that could bring him harm).

But one day, Teta and Alma had heard from Zalbag Beoulve about Ramza and Delita's return to Igros, if only for a short while. Ecstatic, Teta ran with Alma to meet them, only to find that they couldn't stay long, for they were to go and track down some thieves of the Death Corps/Corpse Brigade. Disheartened, Teta still told her brother to not worry about her, but to take care of himself.

And thus, Teta and Delita were separated once again, forced to live their own seperate lives, seperate from one another, and Teta was still unaware of her own fate.




Personality

As a person, Teta is a rather sacrificing individual, at least when it comes to her brother, and those that she trusts. For her brother, she would hide her own fears and underconfidence, and simply wish for his safety and health over her own. On this end, she is also a kind, if not naive girl. Living in the world of nobles as a common girl did show her the cruelties of rank and the double-life she had, but at the same time, living the way she did showed her very little of the outside world, outside of clan differences, and the reality of death. She tries her best to fit in with those around her despite this, but because of her dual identity as noble and commoner, this makes it difficult, as she teeter totters between the two not knowing quite which one she really is. She is a bit melancholy because of her situation and her inability to be near her brother, who was her support as a little girl, but overall, she is a sweet, caring sister.

But on this end, one can also say that Teta has a bit of a reliance on her brother, and tends to dislike being separated from him for too long a period of time.

When around others, Teta generally hides behind a smiling mask. She is very pleasant and sympathetic, but without realizing it, she sometimes acts a bit distant towards other people, especially when she does not want them to worry, or fear that she is somehow being offensive. She tends to submit to those of higher authority than herself, and has a bit of an inferiority complex due to her birth. Unfortunately, because of how she carries herself, she can also appear to have a huge sign on her back that says "Kick me, I'm already down!" or a sign around her neck that says "Please protect me!" She does not try to give off either impression, however, as she does not like causing anyone issue, or bothering anyone.

Also, as a general rule, because of her mask, she cannot feel fully at ease, even around family members and her closest friends. It takes a lot of...well, anything to get her to fully open up to others. She trusts easily when one is kind to her, but it takes more than just kindness to get her to open up to someone, especially to the most intense degree. Even when she 'opens up' with her problems, she still keeps herself reserved and holds in some of the more unpleasant information, even though the most unpleasant material is what is truly bothering her.





Personality changes (Since coming to Aegean)

Since arriving in Aegean, Teta has gotten over a lot of her initial fears, though she still has that 'commoners are less important than their betters' mentality that sticks around like a bad rash. However, at the same time, due to the cruel words of Algus Sadalfas, she can never fully get over it, though she's made great steps towards that goal. She will at least at times speak up for herself, and will ask for things without complete embarrassment. Though still she is uncomfortable with putting herself on others, and this is often shown with how she interacts with other people. She also can bring herself to act a little devious, and tease others on occasion.

Her reliance on Delita has lessened, but at the same time, some of it's simply shifted to others around her. She is not completely reliant on others like she used to be, but it's still an issue with her--one she doesn't notice herself. But truly, she is growing much stronger and more independent the longer she stays.

She has also developed a bit of a protective streak, due to an incident where she was forced to watch a girl she considered a friend get beaten and near-tortured in front of her. She was rescued, as was her friend, but that image was burned into Teta's mind, and she finds that even she can muster the strength to attempt heroics every now and again. But on the downside to this, her martyristic complex has grown stronger.

Personal Abilities
When it comes to 'abilities', she has nothing really, outside of being able to cast two spells ("Cure", and she can perform the "Wish/Chant" ability, which takes the user's own HP and gives double that to the one on whom the spell is cast), and an extensive knowledge about chocobos, thanks to her elder brother.

But since she is starting to take white magic and basic magic classes at the University on top of her High School courseload, she may gain more magical skills than before. She also vies to learn how to at least use one weapon to defend herself.
